Malouf Sheets Guide

Here is your go-to guide for Malouf sheets! We’ll touch on how to locate the proper sheets for your new bed, as well as how to care for your new linens.

The Quick Guide to Finding the Right Malouf Sheets

When locating the proper sheets for your brand new mattress and bed, you’ll want to keep feel, fit, fiber, and finish in mind.

  • Feel – Of course, you’ll want to make sure you enjoy the feel of your new Malouf sheet set. Your preference will be personal. Some like silky, smooth, cool, warm, soft, etc.
  • Fit – A well-designed sheet set will not only feel amazing but will also fit your new bed properly. Look for: oversized dimensions for the sheet and pillowcases, and well-designed elasticity in your fitted sheet. Your sheets should properly hug your bed.
  • Fiber – The fiber quality includes feel, softness, temperature, and durability. Your fiber choices include French linen, long-staple cotton (which are lightweight and breathable), and Tencel and bamboo rayon (which are soft and silky) help to remove moisture in the night. Finally, there is also flannel and microfiber, (which are soft and cozy), encouraging a better night’s sleep.
  • Finish – Finally, as you weigh your options, you’ll want to consider your sheets’ finish. Consider the quality of edges, piping, and durability of the elastic. If they are all in pristine condition, chances are, you have found the perfect set of Malouf sheets! In addition, keep in mind that you’ll want to know if the material has been treated with a synthetic chemical (which may disappear upon washing.)

How to Care For Your Malouf Sheets

Once you’ve purchased your Malouf sheets, now you’ll need to know how to care for them properly. Consider that since the material will directly touch your skin, the care of your sheets is vital to the quality of your sleep. Without a doubt, you’ll want to invest in linens that provide you the longest-lasting comfort you require. Let’s take a look at linen care instructions:

Malouf Sheets Care Instructions

Bleaching

  • As a general rule, STAY AWAY from chlorine bleach. It can cause fibers to weaken and will even make them yellow prematurely.
  • In the case you think the fabric needs bleaching, be sure to use an oxygen-based bleach.

Chemicals

  • Chemicals from certain hair or skin products may cause discoloration and pilling of the linen material. These may include acne lotions or toothpastes (which contain oxidizing agents).

Detergents

  • Need to use a detergent? Try using a mild liquid detergent, (preferably non-alkaline). Don’t add bleach or whiteners.
  • Refrain from pouring your detergent directly onto the sheets. Add instead to the water and then add the linens afterward.
  • Use only half the recommend amount of detergent (unless your linens are quite soiled.)

Washing

  • Before using your linens for the first time, be sure to pre-wash.
  • Keep your linens separate from other materials in the wash, particularly polyester. Polyester can cause pilling. Also, be sure to avoid clothing or materials that have heavy zippers.
  • Please do not overload your washing machine as fibers can break down. You don’t want your linens to be exposed to excessive abrasion and agitation.
  • Be sure to wash your linens in warm water on a gentle cycle, using a cold-water rinse.

Drying

  • We recommend using line drying.
  • Be sure to shake out wet/damp linens before drying. Tumble dry on low heat until only slightly damp.
  • DO NOT use high heat when drying to avoid weakening the fibers. You want to avoid shrinking your linens.
  • Please remove from dryer promptly (to lower the chance of wrinkles.)
  • Smooth and fold or press with an iron.

Storage

  • Keep your Malouf sheets in a cool and dry area.
  • If you’re storing your linens for long-term, be sure to keep them wrapped in white cotton and acid-free paper.
  • To avoid yellowing, don’t store your linens in either plastic bags or boxes.
